Family Reunion 2010 {Blue Mt. Ridge}

Our Annual Mitchell Clan Reunion was another great year! This year Joe & Alyn hosted the family down at Blue Mt. Ridge. Some family arrived Thursday and the rest was there Friday morning. We all got set up and then headed out for a day trip to some of the sites that Southern Utah has to offer. We made our first stop at some property owned by Alyn's Family and looked for arrowheads, pottery, unique rocks. Some came away with some cool souveinors others came away with a fear of the bull (Mike).

Next we headed to Spirit Cave, which was some old Indian Ruins. WOW! What an amazing site that was to see. So much history can be seen just by looking at the ruins and how they lived. While at the Cave, a thunderstorm followed by a massive rainstorm approached so some took cover in the cave while others darted for their vehicles. Needless to say it didn't last too long and we were all soaking wet and muddy and on to our next adventure.

We took a little drive south to the Gooseneck State Park. GORGEOUS is all that can be said!!
We have talked about making a trip out to raft down this river. Wouldn't that be a blast?

We then ventured out to Monument Valley (well 1/2 way there at a pull-off) They say this is the most photogentic stretch of highway in the U.S. You can see why below... simply beautiful and seen for miles apon miles.That night we played games and chatted with one another.

Saturday we woke up early to all the guys gone to the annual golf tourney. They drove into Monticello at 630am to do a round of golf. The girls got to sleep in little. When the guys got back, we went on another outing to some Indian ruins. Of course the reunion wouldn’t be one without an amusing game of Frisbee Golf... do you see Golf being a trend for this day?? The guys didn’t get too far before a massive rain/thunderstorm hit our campground and we all made our ways to tents/lodge for shelter. Saturday night was more of a calm one, we all just had time to talk and renew our relationships with everyone. We roasted some smores... of course!

Sunday we had a devotional and each read a favorite scripture along with the reason why it’s so important to us. It was awesome to hear everyone’s testimonies and truly feel the spirit with us.

We are so lucky to have the family bond we have. It was an awesome reunion and even though we missed Lynn & Kris, Jon & Kaye and all of their families, we know that there are times when not everyone can make it. I am truly thankful for my family! I know it’s so important to carry on the traditions that were set for us. Our Family can never grow too much to not have this Mitchell Reunion. I hope that everyone will be able to attend next year! Chris & Janene are hosting and I believe we are deciding on whether to do Camp Koholowo or another area in Utah County.

Thanks for a great Reunion!!

I’m waiting for some pics to be sent to me to make a slideshow of the reunion. Check back in the next few days and I should have it posted!
